MENSTON Arts Club has enjoyed a successful exhibition, with all members contributing to the event.

They took turns to man the stalls or picture sales, front of house duties, and equally important keeping up the strength of both workers and public by serving light meals and drinks in the cafe.

Councillor Dale Smith provided sweet support by presenting the delighted exhibition secretaries with boxes of mini chocolate bars which served to enhance the raffle ticket sales. Cllr Smith expressed admiration for the standard of work produced by the club both in the hanging art and on the craft counter.

Club president Ann Wade presented Robert Tompson (Tom) with a beautifully hand painted glass vase (painted by Tracy Kuprianka). This was given by the club in recognition of Tom becoming the artist most admired in the My Favourite Painting category of the exhibition. All visitors to the exhibition are invited to write the name of their favourite painting and the artist's name on a voting slip. The votes are then counted and the winner announced before the raffle is drawn. This activity has proved very popular with visitors

Show secretary Fran Philby said: "The Menston Arts Club committee would like to thank every member of the club for their efforts but we would particularly like to thank the visitors from near and far, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and this year, also Canada and Turkey, who make the effort to support us and buy art to grace the walls of their homes."
