PASADENA Roof Orchestra have been going almost fifty years, having formed in 1969 by Jon Arthy.

They play the greatest music from the 1920s and 1930s. Enjoy beautifully arranged songs from Irving Berlin, Ray Noble, Cole Porter and their contemporaries and re-live the electrifying hot jazz from Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington. They've played the Musikhalle in Hamburg, the Berlin Phillarmonic, toured the USA four times, and are now coming to Ilkley.

On Thursday, December 14 at the King's Hall from 7.45pm, the vintage dance band will present their very own Christmas show, devised at the time of the recording of their Christmas album. Presenting the show, and putting on the top hat and tails, is the suave singer and band leader Duncan Galloway.

A little research into seasonal songs from the 1920s and 1930s brings up some family favourites such as ‘Rudolph the red nosed reindeer’ and ‘Santa Claus is coming to town’, plus of course a certain hit from Irving Berlin called ‘White Christmas’, alongside a wonderful selection of numbers that are not found on the everyday Christmas playlist - a welcome change to hear some relatively unknown songs from the jazz age.

The UK’s finest 1920s and 1930s Orchestra present a show full of seasonal cheer, together with their usual fare of the most perfect tunes from the dance band era. The show will bring a smile to your face, and put you in the perfect mood for Christmas!
