A MUSIC and arts centre in Otley has unveiled its busy autumn programme.

Everything from ukulele lessons to a Rock and Pop Academy will be held at the Woolpack Music & Arts Studios over the coming months.

First up for the Bondgate venue will be its involvement in this year's Otley Folk Festival, with musicians performing on its outdoor stages from 11am to 8pm on Saturday, September 16 and from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, September 17.

The Rock and Pop Academy begins on Monday, September 18, and is a weekly after-school club for Year 5 and 6 school pupils which will allows them to create and record their own music.

Musical Routes meanwhile, which also starts this month, is for 13 to 16 year olds who are interested in music as a GCSE option, and covers composition, arrangement, rehearsing, recording and mixing.

Young people aged 11 and older can also take part in Saturday morning music activities, including the Access All Areas Rock School and the Saturday Sounds acoustic sessions.

And there will also be Saturday art clubs for younger children aged two and over.

Richard Sabey from the Woolpack Studios said: "Also for the younger children we have another new venture, One Voice Otley children’s choirs, which will run after-school on Wednesdays.

"There will be two choirs, one for Year groups 2, 3 and 4, and the other for years 5, 6 and 7.

"And for adults we have a Ukulele Beginners Course beginning on September 26 which will run for nine Tuesday evenings."

The centre is also inviting anyone interested to join in its regular weekly activities including the Ukulele Orchestra, the A Cappella Choir, or the Music Social Club.

Art and craft workshops in silver jewellery making, printing, stained glass and Christmas crafts will be available too - along with band rehearsal space and recording facilities, along with an experienced sound engineer.
