IF you're a fan of the gruff and rugged Irish delight that is Brendan Gleeson, then this is the week for you to flock to Ilkley Cinema, for we have a double whammy of films starring this wonderful actor.

In the heart of WWII, a German couple face ultimate grief as they lose their son in the battlefield, to the hands of the endlessly corrupt and sickening Nazism. Based on a true life story, Alone in Berlin sees Emma Thompson and Brendan Gleeson stand strong as Otto and Anna, who fight back against the regime by beginning a campaign of Anti-Nazi postcards, scattered across the city.

Gleeson also wows in gentle, charming rom-com Hampstead as a stubborn soul who refuses to give up the place he has called home for the past 17 years. The problem is, he has been squatting in a shack on Hampstead Heath. But, as a friendship and a little something more sparkles with American widow Emily, they fight against the unscrupulous property developers that threaten to kick him out.

On the subject of grumpy old men, let us introduce you to A Man Called Ove. This Swedish film tells of the eponymous Ove, who forms an unlikely friendship with his new neighbours after they knock over his mailbox. Sometimes life is funny, you never know how or who you will make friends with!

We also take a look at the extraordinary life and works of classic English theorist, poet and art critic, John Berger in Seasons in Quincy: Four Portraits of John Berger. As the title suggests, four short films are interwoven to paint an unconventional picture of this world renowned intellectual.

We like a good celebration at Ilkley Cinema, and to coincide with the 50th anniversary of The Graduate, we have a special, one off screening of this cult classic, coming to you on July 14th. Finally, Rock Dog joins us once again for Kids' Club, so bring the little ones down for some rock n roll fun!
