SILSDEN Singers mark their 20th anniversary with a concert in Silsden Town Hall on Saturday, July 15.

The 7.30pm, concert, which will raise money for the Samaritans, will also feature Welsh instrumental group Ffidl-Di-Ri.

A spokesman said: “Silsden Singers have been singing together under the inspiring, friendly, all-inclusive leadership of Janet Russell since starting at the Warp-Dressers and Twisters Club, Silsden, in 1997.

“As well as singing every Tuesday evening at the daisy Chain Children’s Centre, Elliott Street, sometimes Silsden Singers sing out and about for the pure joy of it.

“They are a very friendly group and enjoy singing a variety of songs from different genres and parts of the world, in harmony.”

“Their previous singing experience and backgrounds vary, all contributing so much to the enjoyment of their regular Tuesday evenings.”

Janet Russell lives locally and has long experience as a professional folk singer and workshop leader.

No audition is needed to join the Silsden Singers and the group is open to anyone.

The group have been at many local events such as the Tour de Yorkshire, Silsden Park Fun Day, the Santa Special at Keighley railway station, the Queen’s Diamond Do, and for the Olympic.

They have also performed at several residential homes at Christmas time, and taken part in larger choir events such as the recent Street Choirs Festival in Kendal.
