PINSUTI, the Ilkley and Skipton chamber choir conducted by Robert Webb, celebrate “Aleluia” at Christ Church, Skipton on Friday July 7, accompanied by organ and brass ensemble.

The concert will feature a selection of sacred pieces, all celebrating the word 'Alleluia’, in an excitingly diverse set of ways, from a modern setting by Whitacre to the most famous alleluia of them all: Handel's 'Hallelujah' chorus.

Pinsuti is well known for its delightful unaccompanied singing but several of these pieces are great celebratory works, such as ' Zadok the Priest', which will be accompanied by Christ Church's splendid organ, and two works by Bruckner will have the support of a brass ensemble, specially put together for this concert. The programme includes music from the 16th century, by Palestrina, and ranges through the centuries including some early 20th century gems by Stanford and Bairstow, to contemporary works such Tavener's magical 'Song for Athene'.

A choir spokesman said: "This is probably one of our most varied and exciting programmes to date. Combine this array of music with the fabulous acoustic of Christ Church and its very comfortable chairs and you have an excellent evening to look forward to!

"Come and join us. Tickets are available from choir members or on the door and cost £8 and the concert starts at 7.30pm."
