AWARD-WINNING comedian Sarah Kendall will bring her Shaken show to Otley next week.

The comic, whose writing credits include Beehive (Channel 4) and Comedy Cuts (ITV), will perform at Otley Courthouse on Thursday, June 8.

Her stand-up shows have been nominated for the Perrier and Time Out Comedy Awards and she is a regular cast member of Clare in the Community, on BBC Radio 4.

Her TV appearances, meanwhile, include Russell Howard’s Good News, Best Behaviour, The Now Show and Dilemma.

After a totally sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Sarah is performing Shaken only twice this year in the UK.

Set in a small beachside town in 1989, the show is the final part of a trilogy about growing up in Newcastle, Australia.

It revolves around a lie that a friendless, 13 year old - Sarah - told which quickly spiralled out of control until it elevated her to the role of community celebrity - and aroused the suspicions of a local police detective.

A Courthouse spokeswoman said: "Shaken is a hilarious tale of lies, stalkers, buried truths, false accusations, simmering tensions and overpriced sausages!

"Expect a hilarious evening based on some very personal anecdotes - a great antidote to General Election night."

The show starts at 8pm and tickets, priced £12, can be purchased by calling (01943) 467466, visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, or popping into the venue on Courthouse Street, Otley.
