Review of Dance Nation by Damien Poole, Principal of DPTA, Harrogate, and former West End Dancer in Grease, Shrek, Gypsy, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.

When one is invited to go and watch a Dance School performance at the local theatre, you could potentially be forgiven for assuming it would be nothing more than a gaggle of girls in tutus spinning around to Kylie Minogue hits with an audience of 15 clapping joylessly after each number. We've all been to one of those kind of shows I'm sure. The best part being the ice cream at the interval.

However, Joze School of Dance's production this year at the Kings Hall Theatre would make you think twice, even thrice - From beginning to end I was enthralled at the sheer excitement happening on stage. The talent of these children is unbelievable. A beautiful theatrical masterpiece of interesting choreography being made to look easy by a wide age range of children, evidently making the most of every second of their performing experience. With moments of what could have been West End interludes of real, gritty Musical Theatre. Big shout outs to Daniel Burgess, Mary Warren and Daniel Joey for fantastic vocals.

A fantastic show, beautiful costume, clever concepts and I'm sure at the end of a wonderful production, a very proud teacher. The atmosphere throughout was wondrous to be a part of.

I'm already looking forwards to next year.
