DON’T be alarmed if you hear Christmas jingles coming from the Queens Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale this June.

There is no need to start present buying yet as Burley Theatre Group’s next production is Alan Ayckbourn’s hit Absurd Person Singular, directed by Brooke Shipley.

First performed in 1972, it has wowed audiences ever since and is one of his most enduring comedies, depicting social awkwardness and the rise of a power hungry and money grabbing British middle class.

Set over three successive Christmas Eves in three different kitchens, the play’s focus is on the relationships of three couples as they experience contrasting fortunes. There is an affair, loneliness, drunkenness, an electrocution and an attempted suicide – and that is just in Christmas number two.

So come along and join this Christmas cheer! Performances are at 7.30pm on June 15, 16 and 17 at the Queens Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale.
