TO HELP you plan your social calendar over the next few weeks, here’s what’s on at the Ilkley Playhouse. Great entertainment on your doorstep!

On June 3, it’s again time for our regular Stagefright Comedy Club, when the acts include professional oddball Seymour Mace, Mancunian ad-libber extraordinaire Hayley Ellis, and one-liner king Ryan Brown. This month also sees the stand-up debut of regular Stagefright host Robson Stroud, who will be talking about cats, dogs, birds, superheroes, celebrity culture, modern dating, politically correct coffee, and the financial product industry, not necessarily in that order.

Then, running from June 5 to 17, we’re delighted to present Kiss Me Kate, a Cole Porter musical set in 1940s Baltimore. A comedy based around a production of The Taming of the Shrew, it’s mischievous and high-spirited, based around the age old “battle of sexes” theme. It’s not often you get a chance to see live renditions of Too Darn Hot or Brush Up Your Shakespeare. This was Porter’s biggest hit, and ran for over 1000 performances on Broadway in its original staging.

Brought to you by Director, Musical Director and choreographer behind last year’s hit production of Betty Blue Eyes this will be treat for lovers of musicals. The enjoyment and enthusiasm of the cast is apparent at rehearsals and they can’t wait to transfer that energy and delight to the stage for you. Some performances are nearly sold out so do book soon to avoid disappointment. The performance on Tuesday, June 6 will be Dementia Friendly, please call the box office for more details.
