LOCAL theatre group Yeadon Amateurs is celebrating a week of show-stopping success with their sell out musical production, Made in Dagenham.

The hit musical which ran for a week at Yeadon Town Hall, finished every night to a standing ovation. The audiences loved it and as word got about, nearly every seat was sold. Bursting with admiration for the production, comments such as “better than any West End production”, “phenomenal” “inspirational” were made, along with praise for the costumes, lighting and attention to detail.

The production, which coincided with International Women’s Day, tells the inspirational story of working class women at the Ford manufacturing plant, campaigning against all odds for equal pay. Their determination, self-belief and sheer hard work led to the introduction of the 1970 Equal Pay Act, which has changed the lives of women across the UK.

Peyton Martin, director and choreographer of Made in Dagenham said: “The widespread acclaim of our show is testament to the skill, professionalism and dedication of our cast and crew. The feedback on our Yeadon Amateurs Facebook page has been overwhelming. I knew we had a great show but it is so rewarding to see the recognition, especially from our local community.”

Yeadon Amateurs’ next show is their Spring Band Concert which will feature soloists from Jordan Rhodes, who played the lead role, Rita in Made in Dagenham, and James Pegg who played opposite her. The concert will also be compered by none other than Harold Wilson, aka Gary Holmes, with his wife Sally. This one-off event takes places on Saturday, April 22 at Yeadon Town Hall. Tickets are just £9 and can be booked at yaods.amateurboxoffice.co.uk or call 07468 107304.
