BRADFORD Festival Choral Society will be performing Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s Nelson Mass on Saturday, March 25 at 7.30 pm at Bradford Grammar School.

Mozart’s requiem combines beautiful melodies with drama and wonderful peaceful moments. Mozart died before he completed it and the version the choral society will be performing was completed by Duncan Druce, a composer who was based in Huddersfield and died in 2015.

Haydn’s work was written in 1798 as Europe plunged into chaos and provides an opportunity to retreat from a troubled world. Some say it is his greatest work.

Tom Leech the choir’s musical director said: “I am very excited to be performing these works. The choir is in great voice and will be supported by Skipton Camerata: a professional orchestra, and four great soloists.”

Tom will be giving a pre-concert talk at 6.45pm which will provide a fascinating insight into the music and will enhance the audience’s enjoyment of the pieces.

The choir is keen to make music accessible to all and particularly to encourage younger people. It therefore offers all its concerts free to under 18s. The concert will be of interest to school pupils studying music and it hopes that school groups might choose to come.

The choir will be performing in the beautiful surroundings of Bradford Grammar School which has great acoustics. Tickets cost £16 full price, £14 concessions and free to under 18s. Group tickets for five cost £60. They are available on the night or from www.bradfordfestivalchoralsociety.org.uk
