A CELEBRATED young Irish group is aiming to get toes tapping at Otley Courthouse next weekend.

We Banjo Three will bring their blend of Irish, old-time Americana and bluegrass music to the venue on Sunday, June 7,

The band, winners of a clutch of Best Live Acts awards in Ireland and a major drawn on the traditional USA circuit, will take the stage from 8pm.

A Courthouse spokesman said: "Brothers Enda and Fergal Scahill and Martin and David Howley together make up We Banjo Three, playing fiddle, banjo, mandolin and guitar with undisputed creativity, passion and mastery of each instrument.

"They are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and get your feet tapping.

"Their competitive success is unrivalled, with Martin holding seven All Ireland titles, Enda with four, while Fergal and David hold All Ireland titles on Banjo, Fiddle, and Guitar."

Enda has also recorded and performed with the likes of The Chieftains, Frankie Gavin, and Stockton’s Wing, while Fergal has played with David Munnelly, Martin O’Connor and Kevin Crawford and toured the world with Ragus and Celtic Legends.

Martin, meanwhile, was the very first Irish banjo player to perform at the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville and the band's debut album, Roots of the Banjo Tree, was released to critical acclaim.

The group are promising an 'incredible feast' of live banjo and mandolin music, featuring modern rhythms, traditional melodies and innovative arrangements, at their Otley show.
