Mature age models, ‘dressed’ in natural materials such as twigs, grass and leaves, have been photographed on Ilkley Moor for a new exhibition.

Norwegian photographer Karoline Hjorth and Finnish artist Riitta Ikonen have been on the moor this week capturing images for a new series of work for their exhibition, Eyes As Big As Plates.

The images are part of a series which have been photographed in New York, Finland and Norway. Drawing inspiration from Nordic folklore.

The pieces have evolved into a series of photographs presenting solitary figures in a landscape, representing neither time nor place. The UK premiere of the exhibition forms part of Juncture, a contemporary arts and movement festival taking place in Leeds until March 15. The programme blends performances and workshops led by local and international dance artists.

Eyes As Big As Plates photos taken on and around Ilkley Moor will be displayed at the Tetley Gallery in Leeds along with some of the ‘costumes’ created from natural materials on the moor.
