PRIME Minister David Cameron has praised the Telegraph & Argus for its role in helping create apprenticeships.
Mr Cameron was speaking following an announcement by the Secretary of State for Business Vince Cable that two million apprenticeships have been started since 2010.
“Reaching two million apprentices is an important milestone,” said Mr Cameron. “And it is an achievement in which the Telegraph & Argus has played a crucial role through its Foundation for Jobs campaign.
“Apprenticeships are a crucial part of our long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain and I know they are something that Kris Hopkins, the Conservative MP for Keighley, is making the case for. We have doubled apprenticeships in this Parliament but there is still more to do.
“Increasing the number of good apprenticeships will help give us the skills to compete with the rest of the world. And it will mean more hope, more opportunity, and more security for our young people, helping them get on in life and make something of themselves.”
