A SPECTACULAR performance was being staged at a secondary school in the Otley and Aireborough area when

this photograph was taken in 1965. The young actors are dressed in resplendent outfits in what appears to be a Christmas production.

A year earlier, in 1964, excited youngsters posed for this beguiling picture on what surely must have been a special occasion. The beaming children appear to be dressed in their Sunday best - with one little boy wearing a a very dapper bow-tie.

Ilkley Military Hospital wounded soldiers Christmas treat. They went to Denton Hall, home of Albert Illingworth, Postmaster General in Lloyd George’s Government, and spent all Christmas Day at the Hall where the Kings Message was read to them: "At this Christmastide, the Queen and I are thinking more than ever of the sick and wounded among my sailors and soldiers. From our hearts we wish them strength to bear sufferings, speedy restoration to health and a peaceful Christmas, and many happier years to come." George R.I.
