MYSTERY surrounds this hospital photograph from the archives of Aireborough Historical Society.
Archivist Carlo Harrison said: “This hospital’s location is unknown, it is in the AHS archives, so we can assume it is in Aireborough or nearby, Otley or Menston for instance, but there is no information with the photograph.
“The most frequent suggestion is Woodlands in Rawdon, but then there are plenty of people who say no it can’t be, so a real mystery.”
He added: “Note the metal work and handle above the beds called ‘Monkey Bars’ this was how a patient lifted themselves up before bed hoists and, no curtains, no privacy.”
These young cubs were photographed in September 1993. The picture is from the archives of the Ilkley Gazette.
