THIS WONDERFUL photograph of Brownies and Guides brought back many happy memories when it was posted online more than 60 years after it was taken.

When Aireborough Historical Society posted the picture onto Facebook its location and date were unknown. But information was soon supplied by people who recognised some of the girls.

The photograph of the Guiseley Methodist Church Guides and Brownies with their symbolic toadstool and owl was taken in 1953. It has been viewed more than 1780 times since being put back into the public domain on January 18. It was donated by Melvyn Wray,

One of them, Vivienne Lupton, said: "I am the brownie behind the toadstool."

Cinderella appeared to be the theme during Ilkley's panto season in 1994. With their shocking hair, flamboyant earrings and gaudy outfits the ugly sisters certainly lived up to their name.
