QUEEN Street Methodist Chapel - built in 1865 at a cost of £3,600 - was once an imposing feature in Yeadon.

The chapel was renowned for the quality of its musicians and actors, and the annual performance of Handel's Messiah was eagerly anticipated.

Behind the chapel is Woodville Manse, where Mr G Johnson was appointed as caretaker in 1912. His duties also included care of the Lecture Hall on the High Street. He was paid £1 per week and was provided with a house, coal, gas and water.

In 1994 youngsters enjoyed an afternoon of fun at Addingham Parish Church Fete. Elly Cummins, Kirsty Hambleton, and Jemma Parker shared a see-saw with an elephant better known as Collin Clarkson.
