‘Born To Perform’ by SCALA Kids at Yeadon Town Hall

EVERY two years this prominent and extremely successful stage school put on a show at Yeadon Town Hall.

My third visit was again an enlightening and enjoyable experience. These 'Born To Perform' youngsters are incredibly talented and how lucky they are to have Lynne Walker as Director of and Louise Denison as resident choreographer.

Louise is well-known as a director and choreographer of ability and commitment.

Pupils of SCALA have gone on to London shows, TV and TV commercials and film roles.

Watching the show the reason is obvious. They are groomed to the highest standard in theatre work.

Even the tiny and delightful SCALA Babes.

These tinies performed Rainbow', I'm A Big Girl Now' and Any Dream Will Do' with the talented Kia Rika Rayne as Joseph.

Sweet Sophie Downham was delightful with such appealing charm and voice. She brought a tear to our eyes with What A Wonderful World'.

Callum Stanton with SCALA Babes sang Hole In The Ground' delightfully too. The Intermediates with Katie Moorhouse sang Modern Millie'. There was a selection from Disney films, a fabulous Guys And Dolls' selection from SCALA Kids, the senior girls coming into their own with High School Musical'.

Elyse Willett sang Tomorrow' and the voice of Sophie Levi thrilled the audience when she sang from Phantom'.

She was joined by Ross Lee Fowkes as the Phantom.

Costumes were very varied and very colourful. The one disappointment for me was that no ballet was included this year.

Singing was outstanding and at times moving. Musical Directors were Dick Walker and Michael Beard. These 80 youngsters gave us a great night of entertainment.

SCALA Kids support Martin House Children's Hospice and last year donated £6,000.
